The slow way

A dozen sites in one analytics account, and no way to see at a glance which one had a good day, which went quiet and which one spiked.

The idea

Where the path bends

Compare each site with itself, not with the others. A usual day is the median of the 28 days before yesterday, so one strange day never sets the bar.

The route of this run: from numbers exist to you know what changed, bending where the work changes medium.Five dashboardsOne sentenceθ₁ 18°θ₂ 66°Numbers existYou know what changed
What runs

Step by step

  1. Every ten minutes the numbers are fetched once and kept, so the page is instant.
  2. Each site shows now, today, yesterday against a usual day, and seven days against the seven before.
  3. A list at the top names the spikes, the drops and the sites that went quiet, in plain sentences.
Example output, made upWhat stands out, on a made-up Tuesday
Spike
The bakery site: 3 times a usual day, mostly from one newsletter
Drop
The shop: half a usual day since Sunday
Gone quiet
The old campaign page: no visitors for 7 days
Outcome

Running, refreshing itself every five minutes while it is open.
